Zimboita
Zimboita meaning Zimbabwe and Italy music collaboration,is a group made up of 4 professional musicians from Zimbabwe and Italy.
Blessing Chimanga: Marimba and main vocals (Zim)
Max Covini: Drums (Italy)
Matteo Boldini: Piano and vocals (Italy)
Ronald Mhundwa: bassguitar and vocals (Zim)
The band was formed in 2012 and plays traditional music of Zimbabwe and Afro Blues music style. The music is characterised by the use of African traditional instruments from Zimbabwe and Blues music influence from Europe.
Zimboita has shared and collaborated with great musicians from the 2 countries such as Oliver Mtukudzi (Zim) Amanda Labanda (Italy) Dudu Manhenga (Zim) Alberto Fortis (Italy), Zimboita was chosen the best cultural exchange group by the Italian embassy in 2013 and was also voted one of the best perfomances at Harare International Festival (HIFA) 2014.
